Warning, you will probably be bored to death watching this vid.
Background:
This is the worst PC I've got, even my Performa 475 is marginally quicker. Yeah, yeah, yeah it's a 386s/20 not a 386/20s - either way 386sx sucks big time - I haven't got the patience to do it all again - I might smash it. Notice how slow it is in Windows (32 bit disc) and how fast it gets into Windows (16 bit disc) all down to the "sx" - as I call it - 386sucks.
Sorry about the flicker, I've got a 50Hz PAL camcorder...
Update:I've added a network card (3Com 3c509) and a SoundBlaster 16 so you can surf the web and play Tempest 2000. Hooray!
It's just turned 19 years old and the C-MOS battery is still working! Damn those cheap Chinese CR2032 cells...

It is possible to control fan speed on late model Compaq Deskpro EN computers. This works on all of the desktop, SFF and mini tower/desktop convertible systems.
Leave a comment if you try this on yours. I would be interested in hearing about how it works.
You can get SpeedFan at http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

Original Compaq DeskPro desktop with 8087 processor from 1984 running first Microsoft version Windows 1.01 with Compaq DOS 3.31 using a keyboard, not a mouse.
The video is shaky in the beginning because the camera could not focus when the PC was in DOS mode, it stabilized after the windows program started.

With the help of "memtest86" to diagnose a bad SDRAM, I finally got my little Compaq Deskpro PIII machine running Windows XP SP2 smoothly again, and I took the opportunity to install some hardware upgrades, basically maxing out its configuration. For the time being, I will not be trying XP SP3 again, though!

This is my home studio made up of my YAMAHA DGX500 keyboard and an old Compaq Deskpro I had laying around. I connected them together and made it so that I could play music from the computer to the keyboard and vice versa.

One of many wonderful commercials John Cleese did for Compaq Computer Corporation in the mid to late '80s.
A very rare find and a treasure for any John Cleese fan, these classic ads were shown only in Great Britian.

One of many wonderful commercials John Cleese did for Compaq Computer Corporation in the mid to late '80s. This one is so completely British in its approach that some Americans may be left scratching their heads.

One of many wonderful commercials John Cleese did for Compaq Computer Corporation in the mid to late '80s. This is an "alternate version" of the commercial "Trust The Well Known Name" and never actually aired!
