Ignore my sleepdeprivedness as I take you guys into my crappy poor man's bluescreen room and show you around.

First off, I didn't need to spam the button like that to reproduce the BSOD. I did that because it is the quickest way to show you. I would encounter this randomly while I was trying to close windows normally, using that top-left shortcut. Also, I'd like to say that I really like Vista, and I'm sure Microsoft will eventually make it stable enough via service packs. That's why I still have it installed on my laptop. Finally figured out how to reproduce it. I'm posting this video so that the problem, and hopefully, the solution, are documented. I've had this happen about 9 times total in the month or two I've had this laptop (Inspiron 1520). It wasn't always with these exact steps... sometimes when I try to close Firefox in the same manner I get the same BSOD. I think this is related to my double clicking the top left corner rather than using the [X] like everyone else. ***UPDATE1*** Turns out this is related to a strange breakpoint in my video drivers. I didn't get my drivers straight from Dell, they were newer NVIDIA drivers. The version I had was: 7.15.0011.5669 (according to dxdiag) ***UPDATE2*** Reproducible with newest Dell video drivers. **CONCLUSION** About 3 weeks ago, my laptop stopped booting normally, almost as if it was always booting in safe mode (Aero refused to load, tons of overall driver errors, services crashed often). Tried using system restore, but the restore point I had was no good. Tried numerous things before I ultimately gave up and restored it to factory settings (after backing up nearly everything on the disk). I can no longer reproduce this BSOD. Nothing is really different now - I have the EXACT same video drivers I had then, so I'm a little confused as to why this is no longer a problem.

(Edit 15/June/08) - Okay. Guys. You can stop sending me tips on what to do. Really honestly I don't use this computer anymore and even if I did, the video was posted ELEVEN MONTHS AGO. I would have had it sorted by now. Also, no, I didn't fake this - it was just really predictable behaviour so I knew when to film. My computer at work has this blue screen problem. It's kind of annoying but I got it on film.

Now we import our bluescreen footage into Finalcut Pro and I show you how to key your blue out of your shot in a very basic and general way. Of course if your using a green screen instead of a blue one it works in exactly the same way.

Solution to fix Blue Screen of Death There are many problems that cause this problem. Most common of them are: 1.RAM Failure: This problem is mostly caused if there is some problem in your RAM installed in the computer. So just try changing it with any of your friend's but with similar RAM configuration. 2.Hardware Failure: The problem can arise due to some conflict between the system and any new hardware that you have installed on your system. This can be hard disk, mouse or any hardware. So unplug the new hardware you installed. 3.Registry Problems: This problem can also be caused if there is some error in your registry values (caused by some illegal software or a virus).If you do not know the values then formatting can be the only option. This is how you can disable the computer to restart in case of Serious Errors and the formation of Memory Dump: a) Open My Computer properties dialog and click the Advanced tab. b) Then click the Settings button in the Start-up and Recovery section. c) Click to remove the check next to Automatically Restart checkbox. d) In the Write debugging information tab, click to select (none) and then click OK.
